Dr. Samuel Smith is a Consultant Gastroenterologist trained in the UK, holding full Joint Advisory Group (JAG) accreditation in both upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy. He specialises in diagnosing and managing a broad spectrum of gastroenterological and liver conditions, with a particular focus on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
Dr. Smith completed his medical degree (MBChB) and an honors degree in psychological medicine (BMedSci (Hons)) at the University of Birmingham in 2009. He then went on to complete his specialist training in Gastroenterology, which culminated in his appointment as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust in 2022.
Throughout his training, Dr. Smith developed a particular interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and advanced endoscopic techniques, earning a PhD from the University of Birmingham for his research on "Advanced Endoscopic Techniques in the Lower Gastrointestinal Tract." He has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his work at international conferences, where he has also chaired sessions.
Dr. Smith has gained extensive experience in both secondary and tertiary care settings across the West Midlands, including a year-long tenure at the renowned Liver Transplant Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
With his advanced training and expertise, Dr. Smith is committed to providing personalised care, using the latest evidence-based practices to ensure the best outcomes for his patients. He is dedicated to listening to patients’ concerns, explaining diagnoses and investigations clearly, and working together to develop an effective treatment plan.
Outside of work, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with his family and friends, staying active through racquet sports, and following football and cricket.
