About

Ms Rumana Islam is a Consultant Gynaecologist and an accredited subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at St Bartholomew’s Hospital London. She is member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the British Fertility Society.

Ms Islam covers all areas of benign gynaecology including menopause and also scans within the consultation. Ms Islam is passionate about treating couples who experience conception delays and difficulties and working collaboratively with women to help plan their fertility future wishes.

She has particular expertise in egg freezing and complex fertility preservation, being the Clinical Lead for this service at Barts NHS Trust, as well as a keen interest in managing menstrual disorders, hormonal conditions such as polycystic ovarian syndrome and perimenopausal/menopausal symptoms.

After graduating from the University of Nottingham in 2006, Ms Islam completed her training in obstetrics and gynaecology in North West London including at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital and Chelsea Westminster Hospital. She obtained her Wellcome Trust and NIHR sponsored MD from Imperial College London and IVF Hammersmith.

She completed her subspecialist training in reproductive medicine from Oxford based at the John Radcliffe Hospital. Ms Islam has published book chapters and her research in high impact journals such as Human Reproduction and Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism and has presented her work both nationally and internationally.
