Dr Rajinder Singh Andev is a Consultant Rheumatologist and the Clinical/Departmental Lead at the nationally recognised Rheumatology Unit at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust.

With extensive experience across the full spectrum of joint, bone and autoimmune conditions, Dr Andev provides expert diagnosis and tailored treatment for everything from osteoarthritis, gout and fibromyalgia, to rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, and complex immune-mediated diseases such as vasculitis and Behçet’s disease. His approach is centred on precision medicine – combining clinical expertise, advanced diagnostics and genuine compassion to achieve the best possible outcomes for every patient.

As a specialist for young adults transitioning from paediatric to adult care, Dr Andev has established and leads an innovative service designed to ensure continuity, confidence and holistic support at this crucial stage. He also provides dedicated rheumatology care in pregnancy, working closely with obstetric teams at Birmingham Women’s Hospital to support patients safely from pre-conception through to birth.

Having spent time training at the University of Oxford, Dr Andev’s academic background underpins his commitment to evidence-based, cutting-edge care. As a recruiter for national research trials, he remains at the forefront of new treatments and advances in rheumatology.

Recognised with multiple awards for clinical excellence and medical education, Dr Andev also teaches at the Universities of Oxford and Birmingham, helping shape the next generation of doctors. He sits on the national Prescribing Safety Assessment Board: an exam sat by every UK medical student.

Alongside his clinical work, he acts as an Expert Witness in Rheumatology, providing clear, impartial and court-compliant reports on complex medical cases.
