Miss Rachel O’Connell is a consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon at HCA Healthcare UK Women’s Health Centre at 27-29 Harley Street, working as part of Leaders in Breast Surgery. Miss O’Connell is specialised in breast cancer surgery, benign breast surgery, oncoplastic breast surgery, risk reduction breast surgery and the treatment of benign and malignant breast lesions. With a focus on achieving optimal cosmetic outcomes for her patients, Miss O’Connell combines breast cancer removal with plastic surgery to ensure the best appearance post-treatment.
Miss O’Connell graduated from University of Bristol Medical School in 2007, before competing her surgical training at the London Deanery. Funded by the Royal College of Surgeons, Miss O’Connell completed her research degree on enhancing cosmetic outcomes after breast cancer surgery at The Royal Marsden. From 2020-2021, she completed her Oncoplastic Breast Cancer Surgery Fellowship at The Royal Marsden, where she holds the position of Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon alongside her private practice. Miss O’Connell takes a holistic approach to patient care and is committed to improving surgical and cosmetic outcomes in breast cancer care to enhance the lives of her patients.
Miss O’Connell is a well-respected figure in the field of oncoplastic breast surgery for both her clinical excellence and her dedication to research to improve patients’ lives. She has numerous peer-reviewed publications, with over 40 published articles and a number of research papers, and she presents the latest findings in oncoplastic breast surgery at international conferences. Miss O’Connell’s research has earned her both national and international recognition, with her being awarded prestigious prizes in the field of surgical outcomes in breast cancer. She is also a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Association of Breast Surgery.
