Professor Philip Bloom is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Lead Clinician/Service Director at the Western Eye Hospital where he runs the glaucoma and cataract services. He graduated from Bristol University Medical School and went on take up posts at Bristol Eye Hospital, Western Eye Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital for his postgraduate training. He was selected for clinical fellowships at the Western Eye Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital.
Professor Bloom is an Honorary Professor of Ophthalmology at Middlesex University and an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Imperial College School of Medicine. He is the immediate previous President of the Royal Society of Medicine Ophthalmology Section, a UKISCRS council member and an IGA Trustee. His special interests are in glaucoma and cataract surgery and has published over 80 peer-reviewed scientific research and teaching papers.
