Professor Jayant Vaidya is a breast cancer surgeon with extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of breast disease. He is internationally recognised for his work in targeted intraoperative radiotherapy (TARGIT-IORT), a technique delivered at the time of lumpectomy, and is closely involved in advancing its clinical application.
He began his academic career with early recognition as a National Scholar at the age of 17 and has since held clinical and academic roles across leading institutions in both the UK and India. He currently serves as Professor of Surgery and Oncology at University College London and brings more than 30 years of clinical experience to his practice.
Alongside patient care, Professor Vaidya maintains a strong research profile. He has authored over 250 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact medical journals and leads multiple international, multicentre clinical trials focused on breast cancer and related oncology. His academic work is complemented by a commitment to professional education, with training programmes delivered worldwide to support the implementation of TARGIT-IORT, now established in more than 260 centres globally.
His work integrates clinical practice, research and education, with an emphasis on evidence-based treatment strategies for individuals affected by breast conditions.
