About

Professor Jarrod Homer is a highly experienced Consultant ENT and Head & Neck Surgeon based at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. He has been a consultant for almost 20 years. His practice focuses on thyroid problems, the assessment of neck lumps, and the diagnosis and surgery for head and neck (including thyroid) cancers.

He has an interest in the assessment of patients with throat problems and was one of the first surgeons in the UK performing neck ultrasound and ultrasound guided needle biopsy. This allows for a one stop service for patients with a lump in the neck, avoiding separate appointments and quicker diagnosis.

He sees patients with general/ common ear nose and throat problems, such as those with a lump in the throat sensation, repeated tonsil infections, nasal blockage, sinus problems and facial pain. He applies his experience in guiding patients through various treatment options.

In addition to this, Prof Homer has a lot of experience in cosmetic rhinoplasty work and he has completed over 1000 procedures successfully.

Throughout his tenure, Prof Homer has published in over 100 peer-reviewed journals and has been awarded over £1.5m in research grants. In addition to this, Prof Homer has been recognized on a national level for his work.

He is the Clinical Chair of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck surgery for the Manchester Academic Health Sciences Centre (University of Manchester), as well as an International Authority on Head & Neck Surgery.
