Professor Ernest Schilders started his professional career at the University in Antwerp and has been a consultant at Bradford Teaching Hospitals since 1999. His special interests are hip and shoulder arthroscopy and groin injuries in sports. Professor Schilders has treated players of most premiership teams in the Premier League and the Championship. He completed his training as an orthopaedic surgeon in Belgium and the United States. He has lectured internationally on his topics of interest and has been appointed as Visiting Professor in Sports Medicine at Leeds Metropolitan University. His long-term research topic is adductor problems in athletes, and he has published in peer-reviewed journals. His expertise includes hip arthroscopy, shoulder arthroscopy, hip and groin pain, shoulder pain, shoulder instability, sports injuries, rotator cuff injury, and labral tear.
