About

Dr Pratik Shah is a Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist practising at The Portland Hospital, where he provides specialist care for children and young people with complex hormonal and metabolic conditions. He is particularly recognised for his expertise in congenital hyperinsulinism and other rare disorders of glucose regulation, combining advanced clinical insight with research-led practice.

Dr Shah qualified in 2001 from Sardar Patel University and has since gained extensive postgraduate credentials, including a Diploma in Child Health, Fellowship of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, and a PhD focused on congenital hyperinsulinism. His doctoral research has contributed to a deeper understanding of this rare condition and informs his highly specialised approach to patient care.

His clinical practice encompasses a broad range of endocrine disorders, including type 1 and type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, obesity, insulin resistance, disorders of puberty, hypopituitarism, thyroid disease, vitamin D deficiency and rickets. Alongside his clinical and academic work, he is a committed educator and mentor. He also serves as a Patron of Hyperinsulinism UK, supporting families affected by rare endocrine conditions and advocating for greater awareness and improved treatment pathways.
