About

Dr Ferguson is a Consultant Haematologist based at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, where he leads both the Haematology and Acute Oncology services. His clinical focus includes the treatment of malignant blood cancers as well as non-cancerous haematological conditions, with particular expertise in myeloid and lymphoid malignancies and bone marrow transplantation. Known for his patient-centred approach, he is committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care.

He holds a medical degree from the University of Birmingham, following earlier academic achievements that include a first-class honours degree in Biomedical Science and a PhD in Cancer Research, with a concentration in molecular biology.

Dr Ferguson completed his specialist haematology training primarily at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. During this time, he was appointed as an academic clinical lecturer, balancing clinical responsibilities with research. His research interests span early-phase clinical trials, bone marrow transplantation, and the genetic underpinnings of acute myeloid leukaemia, work he pursued at both Oxford University and the University of Birmingham. He has contributed to several high-impact publications and has been nationally recognised for his research excellence.
