Mr Parveen Kumar Verasingam is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Endo-Pelvic Surgeon specialising in advanced keyhole surgery, complex endometriosis and the management of pelvic pain. He leads the Advanced Laparoscopy and Endometriosis service at North Middlesex University Hospital and is also the clinical lead for the North Mid Endometriosis Centre.
A significant part of his practice is dedicated to patients with complex endometriosis, including deep infiltrating disease that can affect organs and structures such as the bowel, bladder, ureters, ovaries and pelvic sidewall. Given the complex nature of these cases, he works as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside colorectal surgeons, urologists, radiologists and pain specialists to ensure patients receive coordinated and comprehensive care.
His surgical expertise covers a wide range of benign gynaecological conditions. He performs advanced laparoscopic procedures including endometriosis excision, hysterectomy, myomectomy, ovarian cyst surgery and adhesiolysis, as well as surgery for adenomyosis and other complex pelvic conditions. He takes a personalised approach to treatment, ensuring that each patient receives a detailed assessment and a management plan that reflects their individual symptoms, circumstances and treatment goals.
Following completion of his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Mr Verasingam pursued further specialist training in advanced laparoscopic surgery and endometriosis. He subsequently undertook a dedicated fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopy and Endometriosis at the Cornwall Endometriosis Centre, gaining considerable experience in the management and surgical treatment of advanced and complex endometriosis. His specialist skills also include surgery involving the bladder and ureters where these structures are affected by endometriosis.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Mr Verasingam has a strong interest in research, surgical innovation and the training of future surgeons. His areas of academic interest include improving endometriosis surgery, making operating theatres more efficient, expanding day-case laparoscopic procedures, using virtual reality in surgical education and developing new approaches to surgical treatment. His research has been published in areas including endometriosis, laparoscopic myomectomy, multidisciplinary patient care and surgical innovation.
Mr Verasingam is dedicated to improving the availability of specialist endometriosis services and believes strongly in providing care in which patients feel heard and fully informed. He aims to support and guide his patients throughout their treatment, helping them to understand their condition and make informed decisions about their care.
