Omar Shaikh

Dr Omar Shaikh is a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist with extensive expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders. He holds an NHS consultant position at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and has been based at the Royal Worcester Hospital since November 2023.

Dr Shaikh completed his specialist training in general cardiology with advanced subspecialty training in cardiac electrophysiology and cardiac device implantation. He is highly experienced in managing a broad range of cardiovascular conditions, including palpitations, syncope, chest pain, hypertension, breathlessness, atrial fibrillation (AF), supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) and ventricular ectopy.

His specialist practice focuses on the assessment and treatment of arrhythmias through both medical management and advanced interventional procedures. He performs more than 150 procedures each year, including catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter and supraventricular tachycardia, as well as AV node ablation and the implantation and ongoing management of pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) and cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT) devices. He also has extensive experience in implantable loop recorder (ILR) insertion and the investigation of unexplained blackouts, palpitations and other cardiac rhythm disturbances.

In addition to his NHS role, Dr Shaikh practises privately at The Harborne Hospital, Birmingham, where he provides comprehensive cardiac assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients with a wide range of cardiovascular and heart rhythm conditions.
