About

Dr Omar Shaikh is a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist based at the Royal Worcester Hospital, where he has been practising since November 2023. He specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders, combining broad expertise in general cardiology with advanced training in electrophysiology.

Dr Shaikh has a particular interest in helping patients with palpitations, blackouts or dizziness (syncope), chest pain, high blood pressure, and breathlessness. He carries out more than 150 procedures each year, including catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, and supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), as well as AV node ablation and the insertion of pacemakers, defibrillators, cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT) devices, and implantable loop recorders (ILRs).

Within the NHS, Dr Shaikh runs two cardiology clinics each week, seeing patients with a wide range of heart-related concerns. To make care as accessible as possible, he offers appointments face-to-face as well as remotely, by video or telephone.

Dr Shaikh is passionate about patient-centred care. He takes the time to understand each patient's individual circumstances, working closely with them to build a personalised treatment plan. His aim is always to provide compassionate, high-quality care that helps patients understand and take an active role in managing their heart health.
