Nikesh Devani

Dr Devani is a highly experienced Consultant in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine at the Wellington Hospital, London, with specialist expertise in sleep medicine, sleep apnoea, respiratory failure, chronic hypoventilation syndromes, and unexplained breathlessness.

After graduating with Distinction in Clinical Sciences from University College London (UCL) in 2010, Dr Devani completed his specialist training in Respiratory and General Medicine within the North Central and East London Deanery. He was appointed Consultant Physician at the Royal Free Hospital in 2021 and cares for patients with a broad spectrum of respiratory and general medical conditions.

Dr Devani has a particular interest in the diagnosis and management of obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), chronic respiratory failure, obesity hypoventilation syndrome, COPD, neuromuscular respiratory disorders, and oxygen-related breathing disorders. He is experienced in the investigation of breathlessness, chronic cough, chest infections, chest pain, and complex respiratory conditions, providing evidence-based, personalised care to help patients improve their symptoms and quality of life.

Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Devani is actively involved in respiratory research, focusing on sleep apnoea, respiratory failure, and sleep diagnostics. He has published in peer-reviewed medical journals and presented his work at international conferences. His commitment to service innovation contributed to a team that received a BMJ Award in 2019 for transforming diagnostic pathways and improving patient care.

Dr Devani also serves as Training Programme Director for Respiratory Medicine in North Central and East London and is a Quality Improvement Practitioner, reflecting his dedication to advancing respiratory medicine, education, and healthcare quality.
