Nadeem Maddekar

Dr Nadeem Maddekar is a highly experienced Respiratory Consultant dedicated to providing clear, compassionate and comprehensive care for patients with chest and breathing problems. He specialises in the assessment and treatment of asthma, COPD, breathlessness, chronic cough, pleural disease, sleep apnoea, lung infections, bronchiectasis, and offers rapid‑access diagnostics for suspected lung cancer.

Dr Maddekar sees private patients at *The Harborne Hospital,* offering prompt appointments, thorough assessments and personalised treatment plans tailored to each individual.

He completed his advanced training in Respiratory Medicine, General Medicine and Critical Care within the prestigious London Deanery. His training included time at internationally renowned centres such as Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, King’s College Hospital, and the Lane Fox Respiratory Failure Unit, where he gained extensive expertise in the management of complex respiratory failure. He has also been recognised with a CEO Award for the high standard of medical care he delivered at the Royal Stoke Hospital.

Dr Maddekar currently works at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (UHB), one of the UK’s largest and most specialised respiratory centres. This high‑acuity environment enables him to manage complex respiratory conditions and provide access to state‑of‑the‑art investigations.

Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Maddekar is actively involved in respiratory research. He has served as Principal Investigator for several NIHR portfolio studies, including major national trials in pleural medicine and pneumothorax management. His research contributions have been published in leading journals such as _The Lancet_ and the _European Respiratory Journal_. His ongoing research involvement ensures that his patients benefit from the very latest evidence and innovations in respiratory care.

Dr Maddekar is also a committed educator. He teaches regularly on national training programmes in pleural procedures, chest ultrasound, acute respiratory care and complex bronchoscopy, and is faculty on both the BTS Interventional Procedures Course and the UK Thoracoscopy Course.
