Nada Al-Sakini

Dr Nada Al-Sakini is a highly experienced Consultant Cardiologist with specialist expertise in adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) and advanced cardiac imaging. Based at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, she is committed to delivering patient-centred care, providing comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and management for adults living with congenital and structural heart conditions. Her approach focuses on developing personalised treatment plans that support both short-term care and long-term cardiovascular health.

In addition to her NHS practice, Dr Al-Sakini sees private patients at The Harborne Hospital, Birmingham, where she offers expert cardiology consultations and specialist assessment of congenital and structural heart disease. She has particular expertise in non-invasive cardiac imaging, including advanced echocardiography and transoesophageal echocardiography. These diagnostic techniques enable detailed evaluation of complex cardiac conditions, assessment of disease progression and support for clinical decision-making. Her clinical interests include adult congenital heart disease, valvular heart disease, heart failure and the lifelong management of patients with congenital cardiac abnormalities. She works closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes and support the planning of complex cardiac interventions.

Dr Al-Sakini graduated with an MB ChB and subsequently completed a PhD in Cardiovascular Sciences at St George's, University of London. She undertook specialist training in General Cardiology in the UK before completing advanced subspecialty training in Adult Congenital Heart Disease through a renowned London training programme. Further enhancing her expertise, she completed fellowship training in advanced echocardiographic imaging.

In recognition of her contribution to cardiology, Dr Al-Sakini was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP UK) and holds European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) certification in Adult Transoesophageal Echocardiography. Alongside her clinical practice, she serves as an Honorary Associate Clinical Professor and is actively involved in medical education, research and the training of future healthcare professionals, contributing to the ongoing advancement of cardiovascular medicine.
