About

Mr Setchell is a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with specialist expertise in Minimal Access Surgery (laparoscopic and hysteroscopic techniques) and the management of complex benign gynaecological conditions. He studied medicine at the University of Nottingham, qualifying in 2000, and has since built extensive experience in both surgery and women’s health.

His clinical interests include the treatment of fibroids, endometriosis, menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, and fertility problems, as well as the full range of general gynaecological conditions. He has particular skill in performing keyhole procedures, offering patients less invasive surgical options with quicker recovery times.

Alongside his surgical work, Mr Setchell provides comprehensive care for women during pregnancy, labour, and the postnatal period, with an emphasis on supporting patient choice and ensuring the wellbeing of both mother and baby.

Mr Setchell currently holds an NHS Consultant position at St Mary’s Hospital, part of Imperial College Healthcare in London. In addition to his clinical practice, he has a strong interest in surgical education and is actively involved in developing and delivering simulation-based training for future surgeons.
