Before moving to Chester in 2008, Mr Cazabon worked as a Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon at both Oxford Eye Hospital and Southampton University Hospital. After his appointment at the Countess of Chester Hospital, he founded the Medical and Surgical Retinal Unit and has since received clinical excellence awards in recognition of his work.
With extensive surgical experience, he has performed more than 5,000 cataract operations and over 3,000 vitreoretinal procedures. He has a strong interest in visual rehabilitation using premium intraocular lenses, including multifocal and toric implants. His practice covers the full spectrum of vitreoretinal surgery, complex cataract cases, and ocular trauma.
His specialist treatments include surgery for macular holes, retinal detachments, and epiretinal membranes, as well as management of diabetic eye disease, age-related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, floaters, and YAG laser capsulotomy. He is particularly well regarded across the North West for treating patients referred after complicated cataract surgery who require advanced corrective procedures.
Committed to maintaining exceptional standards of care, Mr Cazabon routinely reviews his surgical outcomes through continuous audit. He is also deeply involved in education and has been training ophthalmology surgeons for more than 15 years. Alongside his clinical work, he has contributed to over 25 papers published in national and international peer-reviewed journals.
Outside medicine, he is a dedicated Liverpool FC supporter and a keen follower of West Indies cricket.
