Mr. Saurabh Jain serves as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Clinical Director of services at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. In addition to his NHS role, he operates a private practice primarily at The Portland Hospital for Women and Children and the Lyndhurst rooms at the Royal Free Hospital.
With extensive experience in eye surgery, Mr. Jain specialises in paediatric ophthalmology, squints, general ophthalmology, and cataract surgery. He leads the adult strabismus and botulinum toxin service at the Royal Free Hospital and conducts cataract surgery and outreach clinics at various hospitals including Barnet, Edgware, and Whittington.
Mr. Jain began his ophthalmology career at Kings College Hospital, London, followed by specialist registrar training at Leicester Royal Infirmary. He pursued advanced training as a fellow in adult strabismus surgery and completed specialist training in paediatric ophthalmology at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.
As an active member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, Mr. Jain serves as an elected Council member. He is also a member of the American Association of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, as well as the International Strabismological Association. He regularly participates in professional development activities such as British Isles Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus meetings and serves as a member of the Skills faculty at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, where he teaches trainee surgeons on microsurgical skills courses.
