About
Philip pursued his lifelong ambition to become a Doctor, leading him to a career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. His curiosity prompted him to pause his clinical training and embark on a research fellowship with the renowned Urogynaecologist Linda Cardozo. During this period, Philip discovered his passion for Urogynaecology and his dedication to assisting women with pelvic floor dysfunction. His fellowship thesis focused on the impact of pregnancy and childbirth on the female pelvis, with a particular interest in maternal childbirth injury, which remains a focal point of his work.
Philip's enduring curiosity has driven him to actively engage in research for over 30 years, overseeing a clinical research programme aimed at enhancing understanding of various conditions and improving outcomes for women. He advocates for a holistic, patient-centric approach, empowering women to make informed decisions about their treatment options.
Recognised as a key opinion leader in prolapse and urinary incontinence management, Philip has authored over 230 articles in Urogynaecology. His current research interests include exploring the psychological impact of urinary incontinence, the effects of obesity, and enhancing outcomes for women at risk of preterm birth. Notably, Philip's contributions to Urogynaecology were acknowledged by the Department of Health, earning him a national silver CEA award, a distinction held by only a select few Urogynaecologists.
In his leisure time, Philip enjoys leisurely walks with his wife, three grown-up children, and his dog, Spud. For further details, visit www.philiptoozshobson.com.
