Mr Pat O’Brien is a distinguished Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a career spanning several decades across both NHS and private healthcare. Renowned for his patient-centred approach, he provides expert care throughout pregnancy and childbirth, supporting women with both straightforward and medically complex pregnancies.
After graduating with an MB BCh from the National University of Ireland in 1987, Mr O’Brien went on to gain the qualifications of Member of the Faculty of Family Planning and Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. His specialist interests include Maternal Medicine, high-risk pregnancy management, and Caesarean birth, with extensive experience caring for women with underlying medical conditions and complex obstetric needs. Alongside this expertise, he is committed to offering personalised maternity care and supports a broad range of birth choices, ensuring each woman’s preferences and circumstances remain central to her care.
Beyond clinical practice, Mr O’Brien is a respected leader in his field. As President of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the Royal Society of Medicine, he contributes to the advancement of women's healthcare through education, professional leadership, and research. He is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences and also provides specialist medical advice for television and film productions.
