Panny Kallis

Mr Panny Kallis is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon working full-time in the private sector at The Harley Street Clinic and The Wellington Hospital. His clinical interests include minimising blood transfusion following cardiac surgery, as well as aortic surgery, redo cardiac procedures, and coronary artery bypass grafting.

Mr Kallis graduated in Medicine from UCH Medical School in 1984 and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1988. He completed specialist training in cardiothoracic surgery and heart transplantation at Harefield Hospital and St George’s Hospital. In 1991, he became the first surgeon to implant an artificial lung (IVOX) in a human. His ongoing research into post-cardiac surgery platelet dysfunction and bleeding reduction led to the award of a Master of Surgery degree from the University of London. He also conducts research into epicardial pacing and myocardial ischaemia and their effects on nerve responses.

He was first appointed as a Consultant at University College London Hospital in 1995, a role he held until 2002, when he moved into full-time private practice.

Mr Kallis performs a broad range of cardiothoracic procedures, including coronary artery bypass surgery, aortic and mitral valve surgery, redo cardiac surgery, minimally invasive heart surgery, heart and lung transplantation, thoracic surgery, and the management of arrhythmias.
