Mr Panny Kallis is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon working full-time in the private sector at The Harley Street Clinic and The Wellington Hospital. He has a particular interest in minimising blood transfusion following cardiac surgery, aortic surgery, redo surgery and coronary artery bypass grafting.
Mr Kallis graduated from Medicine at UCH Medical School in 1984. He was then awarded a fellowship by The Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1988. He completed training in cardiothoracic surgery and heart transplantation at Harefield and St George's Hospitals. He is also known to be the first person to have implanted the first artificial lung (IVOX) in a human in 1991. He continues to complete research in post-cardiac surgery platelet dysfunction and reducing bleeding, and this led him to being awarded a Master of Surgery degree from the University of London. He also researches epicardial pacing and myocardial ischemia on nerve responses.
He was first appointed Consultant at University College London Hospital in 1995 until 2002, when he chose to enter the private sector.
