About
Highly qualified Consultant Otolaryngologist, Mr Nico Jonas is a leading specialist in both General Adult and Paediatric Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) surgery. Based at Addenbrookes Hospital (Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust), Mr Jonas performs a range of complex paediatric ENT procedures, such as airway surgery and reconstruction. Mr Jonas also provides private consultations at The Portland Hospital, London, Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital and Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital.
In 2007, Mr Jonas completed his postgraduate specialty training in ENT surgery at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa. Following this he embarked upon sub-specialty training, which included working at the Irish Cochlear Implant Unit based at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, Ireland, fellowships in Paediatric ENT at Starship Children's Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand, as well as working at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London. After completing his training, Mr Jonas continued working as a Consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Before taking up his current position at Addenbrooke's Hospital Cambridge, he also gained experience as a Consultant at Guys' and St Thomas' Hospital.
Thanks to his extensive training, Mr Jonas is well equipped to provide the highest quality care for all aspects of ENT conditions in both adults and children. His specialist areas of interest include adeno-tonsillar disease, neck lumps, nosebleeds, nasal allergies, ear and hearing problems, airway disease, snoring and sleep apnoea. Having published a number of peer-reviewed research articles and authored many academic book chapters, Mr Jonas is passionate about research and advancing the field of ENT.
Outside of work, Mr Jonas enjoys spending his free time with his wife and their four children. He is also a keen sportsman and thoroughly enjoys canoeing and running marathons (even ultra marathons!).
