Mr Moninder Bhabra is a highly experienced Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon with more than 20 years of consultant practice, specialising in advanced heart surgery and the management of complex cardiac conditions. He provides private consultations and treatment at The Harborne Hospital, Birmingham, alongside his NHS role at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
Mr Bhabra has particular expertise in the surgical treatment of valve disease, including mitral valve repair and reconstruction, as well as minimally invasive valve surgery, atrial fibrillation surgery, transplantation and mechanical circulatory support. Renowned for his patient-focused approach and advanced surgical skills, he is committed to delivering the highest standards of care, combining innovative techniques with proven surgical outcomes.
He graduated from the University of Nottingham with an MBBS in 1989 before undertaking higher specialist training in cardiothoracic surgery throughout the West Midlands and London. Following his appointment as a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon in 2003, he developed extensive experience across the full spectrum of adult cardiac surgery and has played a key role in providing specialist cardiothoracic services across the region. Since 2014, he has been a Consultant at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Bhabra has made significant contributions to research, education and innovation within cardiothoracic surgery. He has presented at national and international scientific meetings and published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, with particular interests in valve reconstruction, minimally invasive cardiac surgery and advanced surgical approaches for complex heart disease.
