Mohan Kumar

Mr Mohan Kumar is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Gynaecological Oncology Lead at University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) NHS Foundation Trust, with a specialist interest in complex Gynaecological surgery and advanced endometriosis care. He leads the nationally accredited BSGE Endometriosis Centre of Excellence at UHB, providing comprehensive multidisciplinary care for women with severe and complex endometriosis.

His clinical practice encompasses the management of a wide range of benign Gynaecological conditions, including ovarian cysts, menstrual disorders, fibroids, uterine polyps, infertility, and menopause-related concerns. He has particular expertise in operative hysteroscopy, performing procedures such as the treatment of submucous fibroids, endometrial polyps, uterine septum correction, and endometrial ablation.

Mr Kumar specialises in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and is highly experienced in managing complex cases of deeply infiltrating endometriosis, including disease involving the bowel. He is an expert in total laparoscopic hysterectomy and is committed to enhanced recovery pathways, enabling many patients to be discharged within 24 hours and return quickly to their normal activities, with consistently high levels of patient satisfaction.

He completed his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the West Midlands in 2011 and has subsequently undertaken advanced surgical training at leading centers across the UK and internationally.

As Clinical Lead of a BSGE-accredited Endometriosis Centre, Mr Kumar oversees the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care in line with national standards. BSGE-accredited centers are recognised for excellence in the management of severe endometriosis, providing patients with access to expert multidisciplinary teams, comprehensive treatment options, and advanced surgical care.
