Mehboob Mirza

Mr Mehboob Mirza has served as a full-time Consultant in Breast Surgery at Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust from 2007. He possesses extensive experience in both General Surgery and Breast Surgery and has continued to practice breast surgery throughout his career.

His team pioneered the concept of day-case mastectomy and axillary clearance, which has since become a national model for ambulatory breast surgery. He leads one of the largest screening units in the country.

As a Surgical Tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCSEng), Mr Mirza actively participates in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training. He currently serves as an examiner for the MRCS examination and has acted as Course Director for several RCS teaching programmes.

An accredited appraiser, Mr Mirza has conducted appraisal reviews for colleagues, offering comprehensive portfolio advice and career guidance. During his sabbatical year, he worked as a Consultant Breast Surgeon at the Tawam Oncology Centre in Al Ain, UAE, in 2019–2020.
