Mr. Maninder Kalkat is an accomplished Cardiothoracic Surgeon with extensive expertise in thoracic and lung-related surgeries. He graduated with an MBBS degree in 1989 from the Government Medical College, Amritsar, before completing a Master of Surgery in 1992 at the same institution. He further advanced his surgical training by earning an MCh from PGIMER, Chandigarh, in 1997. Mr. Kalkat achieved his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Cardiothoracic Surgery (FRCS CTh) from Edinburgh in 2005.
With a broad clinical focus, Mr. Kalkat specializes in general thoracic surgery, managing conditions such as lung cancer, chest wall tumors, emphysema through lung volume reduction surgery, pneumothorax, and hyperhidrosis. He is a pioneer in minimally invasive thoracic techniques, including video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and the NUSS procedure, having introduced several advanced surgical approaches to his region.
Practicing at leading institutions including the Priory Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, The Harborne Hospital, and Spire Little Aston Hospital, Mr. Kalkat is actively involved in multidisciplinary teams addressing lung cancer and chest sarcomas. He also contributes to national and international teaching programs, sharing his expertise in thoracic surgery with the next generation of surgeons.
