He obtained his medical degree from St George’s Hospital and Medical School, University of London, and completed his ophthalmic surgical training in Birmingham, Surrey, and at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
Mr Joshi undertook advanced fellowship training in both medical and surgical retina at leading centres in Toronto, Canada, and at Bristol Eye Hospital. He completed his research doctorate (MD) at Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Institute of Ophthalmology, further strengthening his academic and clinical expertise in retinal disease.
He joined Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals as a consultant in 2016, where he established and now leads the surgical retina service. This has enabled patients to receive advanced retinal treatments locally that were not previously available. His clinical expertise includes the management of macular degeneration, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, retinal detachments, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, uveitis, glaucoma and cataracts, including complex cataract surgery and the management of surgical complications. He also provides intravitreal injection therapies, laser treatments for retinal disease and posterior capsule opacification, treatment for floaters, and care for watery or dry eyes including punctal procedures and lid cyst management. In addition, he is responsible for screening and treating retinopathy of prematurity.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Joshi has a strong commitment to medical education. He holds a Master’s degree in Surgical Education, serves as a College Tutor for ophthalmic trainees, and runs a Retina Fellowship at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals. He also teaches on the Master’s in Ophthalmology programme at University College London.
