About
Mr George Attilakos is a Consultant in Fetal medicine and Obstetrics and the lead clinician for the Maternal-Fetal Assessment Unit at UCLH. Besides looking after normal pregnancies, he has a special interest in looking after multiple pregnancies. Mr Attilakos has extensive experience in the field of Fetal medicine, including fetal surgical procedures for complications such as twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome and congenital diaphragmatic hernia.
Mr Attilakos completed his undergraduate studies in medicine in 1993 and he was awarded the membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2002. Following that, he was involved in research and conducted studies in the field of non-invasive prenatal diagnosis, for which he was awarded his MD by the University of Bristol. Mr Attilakos completed his subspeciality training in Fetal and Maternal Medicine in 2010 at the teaching maternity hospital of Bristol University - St Michael’s Hospital.
Mr Attilakos is involved in teaching and is the RCOG College Tutor at UCLH, with a particular interest in Postgraduate Medical Education. In addition to this, he has co-developed a national teaching course for operative birth skills targeted at junior obstetricians. He is a Council member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and Associate Editor of the journal "The Obstetrician and Gynaecologist". Furthermore, he is a Steering Committee member of the UK Obstetric Surveillance System.
