Mr Felipe Dhawahir-Scala is a specialist Consultant in Ophthalmology and Vitreoretinal Surgery, currently working in both Manchester and Central London. He qualified in Madrid, Spain and then undertook training as an Ophthalmologist in England. This broadened his expertise in Ophthalmology, in areas including retinal surgery (retinal detachment), floaters, simple and complex cataract surgery, age-related macular degeneration and many other retinal conditions (acute and longstanding ocular trauma).
Mr Dhawahir-Scala is also recognised as the director of the acute ophthalmic services at the prestigious Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. With his knowledge of Ophthalmology, he is a prolific contributor and has introduced new technologies within the UK and abroad. Apart from his role as a Consultant, he is involved in teaching and research and has published several scientific papers, along with presenting his research both nationally and internationally.
Mr Felipe Dhawahir-Scala is also known to be a founding member and vice-president of the British Eye Emergency Society (BEECS). He is also an examiner at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, in which he examines doctors from around the world who are seeking to achieve a high qualification in Ophthalmology. Mr Felipe Dhawahir-Scala is fluent in Arabic, English and Spanish, breaking the language barrier and providing his patients with a good understanding of their conditions.
