Professor Arun Ranaganthan is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with many years of experience in performing spinal surgery, and the treatment of back pain, neck pain, disc replacement, lumbar disc disease, cervical disc disease, scoliosis, spine trauma and spine tumours.
After earning his primary medical degree, Professor Ranaganthan went on to gain an Advanced Spine fellowship at the Neurosciences Centre and Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, where he gained knowledge and expertise in Orthopaedics and Spinal neurosurgery about under renowned surgeons, Dr Stephen Lewis and Professor Fehlings. Prof Ranaganthan was later awarded his doctorate by the University of Nottingham in spinal surgery for his research at the Sir Peter Mansfield Centre. After completing further spinal fellowships in Leeds, and London, he was appointed Consultant at the age of 35. He has since become an Honorary Professor of Orthopaedic and spine surgery at Bhopal University, India and Bach Mai University Hospital, Vietnam. Prof Ranaganthan is also the youngest recipient of the ISSLS prize for the best International Spinal Research in 2004 and 2009 and has also received the Spine Society of Australia award.
