Mr Amgad Nakhla is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in enhanced recovery and minimally invasive surgery. He has extensive experience in hip and knee replacement surgery and arthroscopic knee procedures, performing over 750 operations each year, including more than 400 hip and knee joint replacements. He was one of the first consultants in the UK to perform day-case joint replacement surgery, helping patients return to full activity more quickly.
Mr Nakhla qualified in Medicine with honours from Cairo University in 2000 and completed a Master’s degree in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2006. He gained Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2006 and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2008. After completing his training at Cairo University Hospitals, he moved to London to work as a Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London for three years. He then undertook advanced sub-specialty training in hip and knee surgery through a fellowship at Charing Cross Hospital, followed by two further fellowships at Nottingham University Hospital, where he gained significant experience in complex primary and revision hip and knee surgery.
Mr Nakhla has worked as a full-time NHS consultant for over a decade and is actively involved in research within his sub-specialty, with numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and regular invitations to speak at national and international conferences. He is based at The Clementine Churchill Hospital in Harrow and the Syon Clinic in Brentford, London. Fluent in English and Arabic and a German speaker, he has a strong personal interest in sport, including cycling, skiing and sailing, which gives him valuable insight into the demands of patients who wish to maintain active lifestyles. Outside work, he enjoys spending time with his family hiking, kayaking and exploring the outdoors.
