Mr Ali Abbasian is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising exclusively in foot and ankle surgery. He is based at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and also provides private consultations. His clinical practice covers both routine and complex reconstructive and sports-related procedures, with particular experience in total ankle replacement and minimally invasive bunion correction.
He regularly receives referrals for complex cases from other orthopaedic units and provides evidence-based second-opinion assessments. Mr Abbasian completed his higher specialist training in orthopaedic surgery on the Imperial College rotation in London and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He subsequently undertook advanced sub-specialist training through a Foot and Ankle Fellowship at the New England Foot and Ankle Center at Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine, a programme recognised by the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.
Mr Abbasian is Chief of Foot and Ankle Surgery at Guy’s Hospital and serves as Director of the Foot and Ankle Fellowship Programme, where he is involved in training senior orthopaedic surgeons in the management of complex foot and ankle conditions.
His areas of practice include ankle replacement, bunion correction, hammer toe correction, arthroscopy, tendon repair, flatfoot correction, Achilles tendon conditions, plantar fasciitis, sports injuries, and ankle arthritis, alongside broader foot and ankle reconstructive surgery.
