Mr Jones is a highly experienced Consultant Spinal Surgeon with specialist expertise in the assessment and treatment of spinal conditions affecting both adults and children. Alongside his NHS practice at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital and Birmingham Children’s Hospital, he provides private patient care at The Harborne Hospital, Birmingham.
Mr Jones offers comprehensive management for a wide range of spinal disorders, combining the latest evidence-based surgical and non-surgical treatments to deliver personalised care. His areas of expertise include the treatment of back and leg pain, neck and arm pain, spinal deformities, scoliosis, spondylosis, spondylolisthesis and coccydynia. He also performs spinal injections, including epidural injections and selective nerve root injections, to help diagnose and relieve pain where appropriate.
A recognised specialist in spinal surgery, Mr Jones regularly undertakes complex procedures for spinal deformity and scoliosis, as well as surgery for degenerative conditions such as disc prolapse, spinal stenosis and nerve compression. His approach focuses on accurate diagnosis, clear communication and tailored treatment plans designed to achieve the best possible outcomes for every patient.
Mr Jones graduated in Medicine from the University of Manchester and holds a BSc from Imperial College London, together with a Master’s degree from the University of Manchester. He has completed advanced spinal fellowship training with internationally renowned surgeons in Hong Kong, Sydney and Cape Town, as well as specialist spinal fellowships in Sheffield and Birmingham. During his training, he was awarded both the AOSpine Travelling Fellowship and the British Orthopaedic Association Travelling Fellowship in recognition of his commitment to excellence in spinal surgery. In 2024, he was also awarded the prestigious Scoliosis Research Society Emerging Technologies Fellowship in Artificial Intelligence (AI), recognising his interest in the application of advanced technologies to the diagnosis and treatment of spinal disorders.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a member of several leading professional organisations, including the British Association of Spinal Surgeons, AOSpine and the Scoliosis Research Society.
In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Jones is a GMC-recognised Educational Supervisor and is actively involved in training the next generation of spinal surgeons. He also contributes to the education of undergraduate medical students at the University of Birmingham Medical School, reflecting his commitment to advancing standards of care and surgical education.
