Dr Mazhar Chaudri qualified in medicine from the University of Leeds in 1991 and completed specialist training in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine in the East Midlands. He has been a Consultant Respiratory Physician with The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust since 2004.
Dr Chaudri’s Special interests include pleural disease, lung cancer assessment, and advanced bronchoscopy, including endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and Cryo-EBUS.
He has extensive experience managing a wide range of respiratory conditions, including breathlessness, chronic cough, asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, pleural disorders, and suspected lung cancer. He has established specialist services, including medical thoracoscopy and pleural catheter programmes.
While serving as Clinical Director, Dr Chaudri helped establish a lung cancer screening service aimed at earlier detection and assessment of lung cancer, and he continues to contribute to its delivery. He has recently led the introduction of Cryo-EBUS within the Trust, representing one of the first such services in the West Midlands. He is a committed trainer of Specialist Registrars.
Dr Chaudri also serves as a Trust Medical Examiner, independently reviewing deaths to ensure accuracy and learning that improve patient care, and is known for providing clear explanations, careful assessment, and personalised management plans.
