Dr Matthew Brown is a Consultant in Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine with extensive experience providing expert medical care to expectant mothers and their babies. He graduated from The University of St Andrews in 2007 and completed his medical studies at Barts and The London School of Medicine in 2010.

Following a wide range of experience during his general training, Dr Brown progressed with further specialisation in Fetal Medicine under the Professor Kypros Nicolaides at King’s College Hospital, London. During this time Dr Brown joined a team of surgeons specialising in an innovative fetal surgery for in-utero spina bifida repair. The procedure is a prenatal, minimal access repair of spina bifida and Dr Brown is one of only two such specialists in the United Kingdom able to carry out this procedure and continues to collaborate internationally with leading surgeons across Europe and the US to advance the technique.

His NHS scope of work includes managing high-risk pregnancies, diabetes in pregnancy, performing complex caesarean sections and birth choices clinic, which includes supporting women with previous birth trauma. Regarding the latter, Dr Brown is specialised guiding patients to collaborate on detailed birth plans, with the overall aim to facilitate patient confidence. This is through a holistic, patient-centred approach that appreciates the multitude of contributing and variable factors influential during pregnancy and delivery.
