Mahmoud Abdelaziz

Mr Mahmoud Abdelaziz is an accomplished Consultant Cardiac Surgeon with extensive expertise in adult cardiac surgery and advanced minimal access (keyhole) techniques. Renowned for his precision, innovation, and patient‑centred approach, he is one of the few surgeons in the West Midlands offering sternal‑sparing cardiac surgery—an approach that avoids dividing the breastbone and instead uses small incisions between the ribs. In addition to his NHS leadership role, he provides private consultations and surgery at The Harborne Hospital in Birmingham, where patients benefit from his specialist skills in a modern, supportive environment.

For suitable patients, this minimally invasive method offers a gentler alternative to traditional open‑heart surgery. It can reduce discomfort, speed up recovery, and improve cosmetic outcomes. Mr Abdelaziz uses this approach across a wide range of procedures, including heart valve repair and replacement, coronary artery bypass grafting, aortic surgery, and surgical treatment for atrial fibrillation.

Mr Abdelaziz graduated from the University of Southampton before completing specialist cardiothoracic training across the West Midlands. He further refined his expertise in complex valve surgery during advanced fellowship training in Malaysia.

He currently serves as Clinical Director for Cardiothoracic Services at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton, where he leads a dedicated multidisciplinary team committed to delivering safe, compassionate, and high‑quality cardiac care.
