Mr Kenan Dehne is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in lower limb reconstructive surgery. He offers a comprehensive range of procedures including total hip arthroplasty, total and unicompartmental knee replacement, ACL reconstruction, meniscal repair, and meniscal root repair.
After his initial orthopaedic training, Mr Dehne was awarded a Fellowship of the European Board of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (FEBOT) and the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, FRCS (Tr & Orth). He undertook advanced fellowship training in complex hip and knee arthroplasty, young adult hip surgery, and soft tissue knee surgery at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham and Wirral University Teaching Hospital.
Mr Dehne has held consultant posts in several NHS trusts across Bath, the Cotswolds, the West Midlands, Wales, and the Northwest of England. He practises privately at The Harborne Hospital, Birmingham, part of HCA Healthcare UK.
Mr Dehne has developed a particular expertise in meniscal repair and meniscal root repair, with a focus on preserving knee function and delying arthritis where possible. Mr Dehne performs hip and knee replacement surgery using modern, tissue-sparing techniques aimed at supporting recovery and reducing post-operative discomfort. Mr Dehne has an interest in enhanced recovery after surgery and applies evidence-based approaches to support early mobilisation and discharge. His own Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) principles include:
* Comprehensive patient education and pre‑habilitation
* Minimally invasive surgical techniques
* Process innovation to make each surgical step more efficient.
* Targeted injections during surgery to provide pain relief and reduce bleeding.
Thanks to this programme, many of Mr Dehne's joint replacement patients are able to stand within hours of surgery and return home the following day.
Mr Dehne is actively involved in research into Enhanced Recovery Programmes (ERP) and meniscal preservation. His work has been published in leading orthopaedic journals and presented at international and national meetings. He also holds a position as Visiting Fellow at Aston University.
