Mr Joseph Gabriel is a consultant urological surgeon specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. He holds consultant appointments at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where he is Lead Clinician for Urological Cancers. He qualified from Brighton and Sussex Medical School in 2015 with distinctions and academic prizes, before completing surgical and specialist urology training in the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery. He subsequently completed a Robotic Pelvic Urological Cancer Fellowship at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, gaining advanced training in robotic prostatectomy and robotic cystectomy at the highest volume UK robotic centre. Mr Gabriel is dual-trained in advanced nerve-sparing robotic prostate surgery and minimally invasive focal therapy, including HIFU and cryotherapy. He also holds a Master's degree in Surgical Sciences from the University of Edinburgh and is committed to clear, compassionate, individually tailored patient care.
Special Interest
Mr Gabriel's specialist interests include prostate cancer, robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy, Retzius-sparing and nerve-sparing techniques, focal therapy with HIFU and cryotherapy, and MRI-fusion prostate biopsy. His academic interests include robotic surgery, surgical training and the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare. He has presented research nationally and internationally and published in peer-reviewed journals including BJU International. He has also chaired international conference sessions on artificial intelligence and surgical training. His combination of robotic and focal-therapy expertise supports a tailored approach to prostate cancer treatment based on diagnosis, circumstances and patient priorities.
