Dr Jess Elmer is a Clinical Psychologist currently based at Roodlane Medical, New Broad Street. She brings more than twelve years of clinical experience supporting all groups of people across a wide range of settings, including NHS, impatient care and within communities.
Jess’s clinical approach is grounded in a strengths-based philosophy, placing emphasis on understanding individuals beyond the difficulties that have brought them to therapy. She works collaboratively to develop a shared formulation of their experiences, ensuring that interventions are both evidence-based and tailored to their unique circumstances. Central to her work is recognising each person’s existing skills, interests, and support networks to promote meaningful and lasting change.
Her areas of expertise include adjustment to parenthood, the psychological impact of family transitions such as separation or bereavement, trauma, and complex relationship dynamics within families. Jess works with children across early, middle, and later childhood, addressing concerns such as behavioural difficulties, anxiety, low mood and separation-related distress.
Drawing on developmental, attachment, and systemic frameworks, Jess adopts an integrative therapeutic style. She also delivers individual and group parenting interventions and is an accredited and supervising practitioner in Video Feedback to Promote Positive Parenting (VIPP).
