About
Jamil Ahmed is an Existential Integrative Psychotherapist registered with the UK Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). He offers his expertise both online and in-person at Roodlane Medical New Broad Street. In his practice, Jamil utilizes a modality that seamlessly integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic approaches. Currently, he is also undergoing training to become an EMDR therapist. Jamil's professional journey began with training in Occupational Therapy, providing him with diverse experience working across the NHS, social care, and charity settings. He has expertise in a wide range of difficulties, including common mental health issues, long-term physical conditions, anxiety, depression, stable psychosis, eating disorders, ADHD, relational issues, substance misuse, and self-harming. In addition to his work in private practice, Jamil serves as a university lecturer and is pursuing a Doctorate in Existential Psychotherapy. This specialized approach proves particularly effective for individuals navigating significant life transitions, such as loss and bereavement. Jamil's therapeutic approach involves examining these stumbling blocks, challenging ideas, choices, and reasoning processes. He values meaningful therapy as a potentially long-term process, with the duration determined by the client. His hour-long sessions are shaped to provide opportunities for clients to get the most out of their therapeutic journey.
