Dr Price completed his medical degree at the University of Sheffield in 2009. After finishing specialist clinical oncology training in Nottingham in 2018, he joined The Christie in Manchester to undertake advanced fellowship training in proton beam therapy. In early 2020, he commenced a PhD research fellowship focused on oropharyngeal malignancies, including cancers of the tonsil, tongue, and throat, and later that same year was appointed Consultant Clinical Oncologist.
His clinical work centres on head and neck cancer, delivering highly specialised radiotherapy using modern techniques such as IMRT, VMAT, and IGRT, alongside proton beam therapy with intensity-modulated proton therapy (IMPT).
Dr Price plays an active role in national research programmes and leads radiotherapy quality assurance for major UK phase 3 trials, including TORPEdO, which compares IMPT with IMRT to reduce treatment toxicity in oropharyngeal cancer, and PROTIS, evaluating IMPT versus IMRT in sinonasal cancer. His wider research interests include developing mathematical models to optimise patient selection for (chemo)radiotherapy and applying advanced imaging methods to help predict treatment response.
At The Christie, he oversees the implementation of electronic patient-reported outcome measures (ePROMs) across clinical services and acts as Medical Lead for alcohol and smoking support programmes. He is also closely involved in medical education, serving as a Clinical and Educational Supervisor for Clinical Oncology trainees and working as an examiner for the Royal College of Radiologists.
