Dr IK Ogbonmwan is a Consultant in Sport, Exercise and Musculoskeletal Medicine and fully qualified GP, with extensive experience across private practice, the NHS and elite sport. As a previous team Doctor for the England Football Association, he brings specialist expertise in the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries and exercise-related problems. His approach is evidence-based, patient-centred and focused on helping people understand their condition, recover confidently and return to the activities they enjoy. He treats patients of all ages and activity levels, from elite and recreational athletes to those experiencing work-related, age-related or everyday musculoskeletal problems.
Dr Ogbonmwan specialises in joint, muscle, tendon and soft-tissue conditions, using diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound to support accurate assessment and targeted treatment. His non-surgical treatments include ultrasound-guided injections, hyaluronic acid therapies, orthobiologic therapies including PRP, hydrodilatation and high-volume tendon injections, alongside rehabilitation and exercise prescription. With a strong academic and research background, Dr Ogbonmwan is a visiting lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University and an editorial board member of BMJ Open Sport & Exercise Medicine. A former competitive 100m and 200m sprinter, he combines specialist medical expertise with first-hand understanding of the demands of training, competition and recovery.
