Huma Naqvi

Dr Huma Naqvi is a Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine and General Internal Medicine, with extensive experience in managing complex older adults and providing peri‑ and postoperative care for patients undergoing orthopaedic and general surgical procedures. She holds a substantive consultant position at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust.

She graduated from the University of Leicester in 2000 and completed her specialist training in Geriatric Medicine and General Internal Medicine in the West Midlands in 2013.

Dr Naqvi’s clinical expertise spans the full spectrum of geriatric syndromes—including frailty, Parkinson’s disease, immobility, and osteoporosis—with a particular focus on perioperative care. She also has substantial experience in Adult General Internal Medicine, including same‑day emergency care and the management of acute presentations across core medical specialties typically seen in the emergency department or acute medicine.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr Naqvi has held several key educational leadership roles. She has served as a Training Programme Director for Foundation doctors and currently oversees Geriatric Medicine specialty trainees in a senior programme director capacity. She has a strong interest in trainee development and wellbeing and plays a significant role in supporting senior medical staff wellbeing.
