Dr Hanafi is a consultant clinical oncologist with specialist expertise in the management of bladder, prostate, and sarcoma cancers. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Aberdeen in 2014 and completed his clinical oncology training across leading centres in Scotland, including Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and the Beatson Cancer Centre in Glasgow. He achieved his Certificate of Completion of Training in 2023.
Following this, Dr Hanafi undertook advanced international fellowship training, completing a highly regarded Sarcoma Radiation Oncology Fellowship at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. During this period, he worked under the supervision of Professor Carolyn Freeman, gaining extensive experience in the complex radiotherapeutic management of sarcoma patients.
Dr Hanafi was subsequently appointed as a Consultant in Clinical Oncology at The Christie, one of Europe’s largest and most respected cancer centres. Alongside his clinical practice, he is actively involved in research and academic oncology. He has published in peer-reviewed journals including Practical Oncology and Clinical Oncology, and regularly presents his work at national and international meetings. These include conferences hosted by the British Uro-Oncology Group (BUG), the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO), the Canadian Association of Radiation Oncologists (CARO), and the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO).
