George Tsermoulas has held a substantive post as Consultant Neurosurgeon at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham since 2017 and also carries the title of Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Birmingham. He undertook his initial neurosurgical training in Greece before completing higher specialist training in the United Kingdom, with placements in both Newcastle and Birmingham. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Toronto, Canada, where he gained advanced experience in neuro-oncology, skull base surgery and pituitary procedures.
His clinical practice covers the breadth of adult neurosurgery, with particular expertise in conditions affecting cerebrospinal fluid circulation, including hydrocephalus, Chiari malformation and syringomyelia. He also performs surgery for intracranial and skull base tumours, such as meningiomas, and carries out minimally invasive endoscopic surgery for pituitary disorders.
Alongside his surgical work, he holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Research from Newcastle University and participates in clinical research studies and trials. He has also completed a postgraduate certificate in Global Health at the University of Toronto and contributes to international humanitarian healthcare initiatives. In addition to his NHS role, he sees private patients at The Harborne Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare UK.
