Mr George Michael Hess is a highly experienced orthopaedic surgeon with a PhD in Orthopaedics and an international career spanning Europe and North America. He graduated in Germany in 1995 and went on to complete advanced training in trauma surgery in St. Moritz, Switzerland, as well as specialist spine training at the Orthopaedische Klinik Munich-Harlaching.
Mr Hess further developed his expertise through a fellowship in spine surgery and interventional radiology at the University Hospital in Quebec City, Canada. In 2001, he was appointed Lead of the Back Pain Centre at Orthopaedische Klinik Munich-Harlaching, a role that reflected his growing reputation in complex spinal care.
For over 15 years, Mr Hess has focused primarily on endoscopic spine procedures and has accumulated extensive experience across a wide range of minimally invasive techniques. He is recognised internationally as an expert in minimally invasive spine surgery and interventional pain therapy.
In 2009, Mr Hess served as co-surgeon in the world’s first successful full-endoscopic nucleus replacement surgery. As well as this he is principal investigator for studies evaluating a novel CE-marked nucleus implant and has delivered over 200 scientific presentations and is frequently invited worldwide as a guest surgeon.
