Dr Farrukh Rauf is a highly experienced Consultant Respiratory Physician, practising privately at The Harborne Hospital, Birmingham. He is also the Clinical Service Lead for Respiratory Medicine at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and serves as Chair of the Respiratory Clinical Network for University Hospitals Birmingham.
After graduating from King Edward Medical University, Pakistan, in 2003, Dr Rauf moved to the UK and began his NHS career in 2005. He completed extensive postgraduate training in both Respiratory and General Internal Medicine across South East London and the West Midlands, achieving his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2016. Following this, he was appointed as a Consultant Respiratory Physician at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, where he continues to play a leading role in the development and delivery of respiratory services.
Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Rauf is committed to medical education and workforce development. He is actively involved in the training and mentorship of respiratory specialists in training and contributes to educational programmes as a Clinical Tutor within University Hospitals Birmingham.
Dr Rauf provides expert assessment and management of a broad range of respiratory conditions, including persistent cough, unexplained breathlessness, respiratory infections, haemoptysis and chronic airway diseases. He has particular expertise in sleep-related breathing disorders and bronchiectasis, offering patients access to specialist diagnostic and treatment pathways.
He also has a strong interest in advanced respiratory procedures and is experienced in performing fibreoptic bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), supporting the accurate investigation and diagnosis of complex respiratory conditions.
