She graduated from the University of Leicester–Warwick Medical School in the UK and subsequently completed a PhD at the University of Leicester. The majority of her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology was undertaken in the East Midlands, with the final stage of her training completed in the West Midlands.

Prior to moving into full-time private practice, Miss Bakali served as a Consultant Gynaecologist at University Hospitals Birmingham, where she specialised in Gynaecological Oncology and Minimal Access Surgery.
