Dr. Eduardo M. Normando is a clinician scientist, senior lecturer, and consultant ophthalmologist. His clinical interest is in glaucoma, ophthalmic emergencies, and general ophthalmology. He specializes in early diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma with medications and laser. He is the clinical lead for the ophthalmology outpatient service and has set up a new high throughput diagnostic service providing better patient flow. Dr. Normando is a member of the Imperial College Ophthalmic Research Group (ICORG) Clinical Trials Unit, where he is Chief investigator in four investigator-led clinical trials. His research focuses on innovative non-invasive retinal imaging techniques and their applications in assessing novel therapeutic strategies for ophthalmic and neurodegenerative diseases. His recent research includes the application of artificial intelligence to predict the progression of glaucoma. Dr. Normando is a member of the board of the Royal Society of Medicine Ophthalmology Section, the secretary of the glaucoma section for the European Association for Vision and Eye Research, and a member of several internationally recognized medical societies. He is passionate about education and is the undergraduate lead for Ophthalmology at Imperial College London.
