Dwaipayan Sen is a highly experienced Consultant in Stroke Medicine at the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neuroscience and serves as Clinical Director of the Greater Manchester Comprehensive Stroke Centre at Salford Royal Hospital. He provides evidence-based, patient-centred care across all aspects of stroke medicine, supported by extensive advanced training and years of senior clinical practice.
Dr Sen has held a consultant post in Stroke Medicine and Aging & Complex Medicine at the Comprehensive Stroke Centre in Manchester since 2014. Between 2016 and 2017, he broadened his international experience as a Consultant Stroke Physician and Geriatrician, working as Director of Stroke Services at the Institute of Neurosciences in Kolkata. Alongside his clinical work, he is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester, contributing actively to medical education and academic research.
His clinical interests include the management of stroke and transient ischaemic attacks (TIA), cerebral small vessel disease, anticoagulation for atrial fibrillation, cryptogenic stroke, and strokes of uncertain origin. He also provides high-quality geriatric medicine care, with particular expertise in conditions such as falls, dementia, and parkinsonism. Dr Sen is widely regarded for his leadership in complex vascular neurology and his commitment to improving outcomes through comprehensive, compassionate care.
Dr Sen graduated in medicine from the University of Calcutta in 2002. He obtained MRCP (UK) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2006, followed by MRCP in Geriatric Medicine in 2009. He completed his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General (Internal) Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, and Stroke Medicine in 2014.
